Police say a traffic officer on patrol saw a Toyota Camry being driven at a high rate of speed in the area of Grant Avenue and Bluegrass Road around 2:30 a.m. The officer began to follow the vehicle as it traveled to Welsh and Bluegrass where it almost crashed into a marked police car, authorities say. At the intersection of Welsh Road and Dewees Street, the car jumped the curb, crashed through the fence of a private home, and drove over the lawn before it was launched into the air and landed on another car, Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The car then crashed into the front of two twin homes, putting a large crack in the stone in the front of the property, authorities say. The damage to the front of the properties is so extensive that inspectors have deemed it unsafe, police say. Small says the officer who was following the Camry then took the driver, a 15-year-old, into custody. Investigators say the car had been reported stolen from Northeast Philadelphia about 1 hour before. Small says speed and reckless driving were a factor in the crash.

GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) - Three people were fatally shot and two were injured, including a 12-year-old girl, at an Indiana mall after a man with a rifle opened fire in a food court and an armed civilian shot and killed him, police said.The man entered the Greenwood Park Mall on Sunday evening with a rifle and several magazines of ammunition and began firing in the food court, Greenwood Police Department Chief Jim Ison said.The three people who died were in addition to the man with the rifle.

Video: Suspect threatens man with gun after physical fight inside North Philadelphia store, police say

PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating an aggravated assault that occurred in a North Philadelphia store earlier in July. According to authorities, the incident took place on July 7 on the 1700 block of Allegheny Avenue just before 7 p.m. Officials say a man told police he was buying a drink when he got into a verbal altercation with another person. The verbal altercation escalated into a physical fight, according to law enforcement. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESPolice released surveillance video showing the fight inside the store. According to police, the suspect went to his car after the fight, grabbed a black handgun and walked back into the store, threatening the man he fought. Authorities say the man left the store through a door on the opposite side and the suspect fled off in a Gray Ford four-door truck.
