TACOMA, Wash. - Pierce County prosecutors charged former Seattle SuperSonic Shawn Kemp with first-degree assault after exchanging gunfire last month in the Tacoma Mall parking lot.At the time, the Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said it was not filing charges for the March 8 incident.According to charging documents, Kemp told Tacoma police he was shot at first, but detectives say that does not line up with video from witnesses. That video allegedly shows Kemp getting out of his car, grabbing a bag from his trunk and firing the gun.Detectives said Kemp was standing where a round of ammunition was found on the ground, and during a search of his car a gun was located.Previously, Kemp's attorney told FOX 13 he fired a gun in self-defense after he tracked his stolen cell phone to the Tacoma Mall.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA - A 21-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was shot multiple times on a North Philadelphia street.Officials say the shooting happened Friday evening, around 5:45, on the 2400 block of North Sydenham Street.The 21-year-old victim was shot many times throughout his body. DEPTFORD, N.J. - It’s been a little over a month since Deptford Police Officer Bobby Shisler was shot in the leg during a traffic stop. Friday, friends, family and fellow officers honored Officer Shisler with a community blood drive.It’s an all-day event, picking up as people left work for the day in the late afternoon. PHILADELPHIA - Another Philadelphia high school is closing its doors due to environmental concerns sparked by asbestos. According to Principal Michael J. Calderone, asbestos was discovered on school grounds, including on the first floor where the cafeteria is. Calderone says the asbestos is present mostly above ceiling tiles and on top of ductwork, which was identified after the school district accelerated the routine for its three-year asbestos inspection. "We know this news is disappointing.

WASHINGTON - A drug manufacturer asked the Supreme Court on Friday to preserve access to its abortion drug free from restrictions imposed by lower court rulings, while a legal fight continues.Danco Laboratories filed its emergency request with the high court less than two days after an appeals court ruling in a case from Texas that had the effect of tightening the rules under which the drug, mifepristone, can be prescribed and dispensed.The new limits would take effect Saturday unless the court acts before then.The fight over mifepristone lands at the Supreme Court less than a year after conservative justices reversed Roe v. WASHINGTON - A senior Federal Reserve official said Friday that there has been little progress on inflation for more than a year and that more interest rate hikes are needed to get prices under control.Christopher Waller, a member of the Fed's governing board, did not specify how many more increases he supports, but said in written remarks that inflation "is still much too high and so my job is not done."Last month, inflation slowed as food and gas prices fell, but excluding those volatile categories, "core" prices kept rising and are 5.6% higher than a year ago. LAWNCREST - A shooting at a Lawncrest rec center Thursday night comes as the city of Philadelphia is trying to make rec centers safer for kids and with summer just weeks away.Authorities say 27 bullets went flying at the intersection of Rising Sun Avenue and Comly Street. Police say it all started when the owner of a Mustang saw it was being broken into.One of the bullets struck the glass of a nearby daycare center, traveling 30 feet inside to the play area. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small says no one was hurt."At the time the bullet went into the daycare center, there were a total of 10 people.

Zachary Herbst, Sheila Conway, Robert Sampson, Justin Conway STROUDSBURG, Pa. - A Pennsylvania man who was arrested for selling drugs to an undercover officer told police that he purchased fentanyl in Kensington to later resell in Monroe County, authorities said. Zachary Herbst, 26, was in a car with his mother, Sheila Conway, and two others when he allegedly sold five bags of heroin/fentanyl to an undercover officer outside a Wawa in Stroudsberg.The arrest follows a two-month investigation into Herbst during which authorities learned that he made frequent trips to Kensington and Paterson, New Jersey to buy drugs for resale. Kensington is over 100 miles away from Monroe County and the drive normally takes about two hours.

NORTH DIGHTON, Mass. - FBI agents arrested Massachusetts Air National Guardsman Jack Teixeira at a home in North Dighton, Massachusetts, on Thursday in relation to a trove of classified documents that have been leaked online in recent months. Police vehicles were seen at a Massachusetts location believed to be connected with the guardsman. The guardsman's security clearance and access to classified government systems have been revoked, according to an internal government document reviewed by Fox News.The guardsman worked on military intelligence systems on a full-time basis, Fox News is told.The National Guard said in a statement it is aware Thursday of the "alleged role a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman may have played in the recent leak of highly-classified documents" from the Pentagon."The National Guard takes this issue very seriously and will support investigators," the National Guard said in a statement.

PHILADELPHIA - A death investigation is underway after the body of a dead man was discovered in Philadelphia. According to police, the body was recovered from the Delaware River in the area of Christopher Columbus Boulevard and Race Street just after 8 a.m. on Thursday. Officials say a man in his 30s, currently being identified as a John Doe, was found unresponsive. Authorities say he had a gunshot wound to the right side of his head. He was pronounced dead by medics on scene, according to law enforcement. This is a developing story.

PHILADELPHIA - Homicide detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department are investigating the shooting death of a man in Philadelphia, authorities say. According to officials, the shooting occurred on the 2100 block of Gould Street in the city's Southwest Philadelphia section just after midnight on Thursday. Authorities say a 28-year-old man was shot once in the stomach. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESHe was transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital by police, where he was pronounced dead at 12:58 a.m., per police. Officials say the shooting scene has not been found and no arrest has been made.

HORSHAM, Pa. - A Montgomery County family has been left in shambles after officials say an 11-year-old boy was killed by his own mother, who then tried to drive her car into the ocean at the Jersey Shore.Police were called to a house 500 block of Privet Road in Horsham Township Tuesday when a man said he discovered his son dead in the master bedroom.The boy's dad told police the 11-year-old had slept in bed with his mom the night prior, but the door was locked the next morning, and his wife's car was missing.Officials say an investigation revealed that the boy's mom, identified as 50-year-old Ruth DiRienzo-Whitehead, killed her son as he slept in her bed.MORE HEADLINES:She then fled to Cape May and drove into the ocean until her car was inoperable.
