A police force has adopted the eerie siren from horror franchise The Purge to order residents to stay inside during the coronavirus lockdown.
Crowley Police, who patrol the Louisiana city of Crowley in the US, were filmed last week blaring out the sound as they drove through the streets.
In the series of films, the siren signals the beginning of “Purge night” – a period of 24 hours where every and all crime is permitted.
The force used the siren to alert people to the parish-wide curfew in Arcadia Parish where residents are not allowed to go out between 9pm and 6am unless for essential reasons.
