Police say the incident happened at approximately 4:30 a.m. at 41st Street and Girard Avenue. A preliminary investigation shows that a white 2020 Land Rover was traveling at a high rate of speed heading eastbound on Girard Avenue.

It was at this point that it struck the passenger's side of a 2016 Chrysler, which was traveling southbound on 41st street. The passenger of the Land Rover was ejected from the vehicle and sustained major injuries.

The driver of the Land Rover was also taken to Presbyterian Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Chrysler was not injured.

Suspect charged after Philadelphia SWAT officer shot in vest while serving warrant

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Philadelphia have identified and charged a suspect accused of shooting a SWAT officer who was serving a warrant late last week, striking him in his bulletproof vest. The incident occurred around 12:37 p.m. Friday, when members of the Philadelphia Police Department SWAT unit were serving a search warrant on the 100 block of West Lehigh Avenue. Authorities say the warrant was to search for Kristian Reyes, 35, who was wanted for parole violations. Trucker protests: Police arrest protesters blocking US-Canada bridge

(Photo by GEOFF ROBINS/AFP via Getty Images) Police moved in to clear and arrest the remaining protesters near the busiest U.S.-Canadian border crossing on Sunday, trying to end a demonstration against COVID-19 restrictions that has hurt the economy of both nations even as they held back from a crackdown on a larger protest in the capital, Ottawa.Local and national police formed a joint command center in Ottawa, where protests have paralyzed downtown, infuriated residents who are fed up with police inaction and turned up pressure on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.The protests have reverberated across the country and beyond, with similar convoys in France, New Zealand and the Netherlands.

2 men shot and killed in Kingsessing, police say

PHILADELPHIA - Two people are dead after a late night shooting in the Kingsessing section of the city.The shooting happened shortly after midnight on the 5700 block of Belmar Street. When police arrived on the scene, they found two men shot and killed.

Police: Man extremely critical after shooting in West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA - A man is fighting for his life after he was shot in the back in the head in West Philadelphia. The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. Sunday on the 200 block of North Wanamaker Street. Police say they found the 40-year-old man suffering from the gunshot wound to the head and he was rushed to a local hospital.
