South Okanagan to monitor for possible COVID-19 symptoms.This week, the Penticton Indian Band (PIB) posted an urgent, online notice stating it has been notified of a positive COVID-19 case within its community.The notice did not mention a specific date or say who notified the PIB of the positive test.

However, the Okanagan Indian Band posted a letter from Interior Health warning members of a positive case at the PIB funeral on April 22.

B.C. reports 853 new COVID-19 cases, as hospitalizations drop from record high “This letter is to advise you that a confirmed case of COVID-19 has been identified at PIB on Thursday, April 22, 2021,” said the letter.“Due to the potential exposure, the medical health officer has recommended all participants.

long-term care residence in Kelowna have been temporarily suspended following a COVID-19 outbreak at the facility.Interior Health says one resident and one staff member at Spring Valley Care Centre have tested positive for the illness caused by the coronavirus.The health agency says contact tracing is underway and that anyone who was in close contact is being provided direction on self-isolation and monitoring for symptoms. The COVID-19 outbreak at Sandalwood Retirement Resort in Kelowna has been deemed by Interior Health as stable, as there have been no new positive cases reported.“It’s in control, mainly because of the vaccine,” said Dr. Albert de Villiers, Interior Health’s chief medical health officer.Currently, there are still 25 positive cases: 24 residents and one staff member, along with one death.De Villiers said 95 per cent of the residents at the independent living residence are vaccinated.
