Premier League 'issues warning to players who break covid guidelines in letter to clubs'

The Premier League has fired a warning to players by outlining tough new action against those who break government coronavirus rules.

All 20 teams received a letter on Friday informing them of incoming "enhanced" measures to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.

These include a ban on shirt-swapping and renewed warnings about "handshakes or hugging" between players. Top-flight chiefs will take action against those breaking guidelines and clubs are expected to heed the new instructions immediately, before they are adopted formally at the next shareholders' meeting.

The fresh crackdown comes after players from a number of clubs broke coronavirus rules over the festive period. The Daily Telegraph reports the disregard for the rules was
