Promising young footballer dies in prison from a spice-induced heart attack

A 26-year-old who had been scouted for Newcastle and Sunderland as a promising young lad was found dead in jail. Josh Scholick was on remand in HMP Durham for affray when he suffered a spice-induced heart attack.

After a string of similar deaths a new report has raised concerns over how easy it was for the drugs to be smuggled into the prison, reports Chronicle Live.

Josh's mum, Madonna Tempest, said she received messages from him, while he was in prison, begging her to make £100 payments to a stranger to avoid getting "slashed". "I feared for his safety so much," said his mum Madonna Tempest. "I was worried something bad would happen." And sadly, her fears came true.
