NEW YORK - According to new research, a record number of people gave up their U.S. citizenship in the first half of 2020, possibly due to the coronavirus pandemic, a volatile political climate and burdensome U.S.
tax reporting.A total of 5,816 Americans gave up their citizenship in the first six months of the year, compared to 2,072 Americans who renounced their citizenship in all of 2019, according to Bambridge Accountants, a New York-based firm specializing in U.S.
