TV presenter Ruth Langsford has opened up movingly about her health fears, especially regarding Alzheimer's, after witnessing the terrible toll it took on both of her parents.

In an intimate chat featured in Woman and Home's March issue, Ruth discussed various topics including her separation from former partner Eamonn Holmes, thoughts on cosmetic procedures, and her upcoming 65th birthday.

But it was her frank discussion about her family's experience with Alzheimer's that truly captured attention. Ruth confessed: "I'm a bit 'head in the sand' about Alzheimer's," mentioning her deep-seated fears about the disease. "Both my parents have had it, I know what it entails and it horrifies me.There's a test you can do to see if you're more likely to get it, but, because there's no medication to treat it, I'd rather not know.

When I have senior moments, as people call them, I panic. Then I let it go, because I can't bear to think about that." The admired Loose Women panelist mourned the loss of her father, Dennis, who succumbed to dementia in 2012, and she now looks after her 93 year old mother, Joan, who is also living with the condition.
