Ryanair customers who are waiting for a refund on their flights should 'be patient' as staff deal with a backlog of flight cancellations, the airline's boss has said.
Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary told BBC Breakfast that customers are still waiting for their money because the airline is "dealing with an unprecedented record backlog of cancellations”.
He said Ryanair staff have around 35 million refunds to process after flights were grounded due to the coronavirus pandemic in March.
Only around 40 per cent of customers have received their money so far, according to the airline boss. Customers can expect to receive their refunds over the next 10 to 12 weeks, he said.
