Two more coronavirus patients have died at Salford Royal Hospital as government figures revealed a sharp rise in the number of positive tests in the city.
Statistics released by Public Health England this evening showed there have been 16 more confirmed cases in Salford since yesterday.
A total of 47 positive tests for Covid-19 have been recorded in Salford, up from 31 on Tuesday - which represents a 50 per cent increase in a single day.
It also means Salford now has more confirmed cases than any other borough in Greater Manchester. Stockport and Manchester have both had 45 confirmed cases while Wigan has just 14 so far.
