Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) in Scotland will now enable those struggling with their finances due to the coronavirus pandemic to make minimum or token payments.Christians Against Poverty (CAP) have welcomed the new ‘low and grow debt payment plan’, which will provide a unique opportunity for many Scots to take back control of personal finances.The scheme enables people to pay back debts, which may have been spiralling, in a manageable way and then increase repayments as their circumstances improve.Under DAS, a regular payment is set up then divided and sent to creditors.Commenting on the changes, Emma Jackson, National Director of CAP Scotland said: “We’re delighted to see the government acting on the input sought from the debt advice.
