Scottish clubs being financially devastated by the coronavirus shutdown have been offered hope as FIFA confirms it’s considering setting up a fund from its massive £2billion in cash reserves.
The last round of Scottish Premiership matches took place on the first weekend in March, with clubs all over the country facing the prospect of going until April with no games.
That will have a serious impact on revenue, with clubs already taking cost-cutting measures. Hearts have asked all staff to reduce their salary by 50 per cent, Aberdeen have requested fans renew season tickets early and other clubs are being given funding directly from supporters.
