The future of healthcare will be in preventing not curing illnesses – and researchers have revealed a new gadget which clips onto the inside of a toilet bowl designed to do just that.
The so-called "smart toilet” uses cameras, test strips and motion sensing technology to analyse the deposits and sends the data to a secure cloud server.
The researchers said the device could be useful to individuals who are genetically predisposed to certain conditions, such as irritable bowel syndrome, prostate cancer or kidney failure.
