Mike Ashley has issued an open apology for his “ill-judged and poorly timed” emails to the Government and poor communication with employees.
The Sports Direct founder came under fire earlier this week for keeping all stores open during the coronavirus crisis. Mike Ashley's Frasers Group, which includes Sports Direct and Evans Cycles, sent an email to all employees within 30 minutes of the Prime Minister's announcement on Monday that non-essential retailers will have to shut as the UK went into lockdown.
But the fitness store claimed that it was 'vital' and would continue to operate before performing a U-turn and closing his stores following criticism.
