The borough recorded 209 positive tests over the week to May 28 - 155 more than the previous seven days. This was a rise of 287pc, and at 71.2 cases per 100,000 people, its rate is now the seventh highest in the region.

The most recent hyperlocal data shows that while infections remain suppressed in some areas - they are rising sharply in others.

Figures for the week to May 27 show that two places in the north of the borough have been worst hit by the recent spike. These are Reddish Vale and North Reddish, both of which recorded 13 cases having seen just two in the previous week.
