Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) revealed there has been a huge drop in the number of people applying for Personal Independence Payments (PIP) since the coronavirus lockdown began in March.PIP is a benefit for people who need help with daily living tasks or getting around as a result of a long-term illness or disability. There's often a great deal of misunderstanding around who is eligible for PIP - mostly by people who don't really know what it is or why it's needed.
PIP isn't just awarded to those with outwardly visible physical, long-term health conditions or disabilities, it's there to provide support for people with an ever-evolving list of 'hidden' conditions too.You could get between £23.60 and £151.40 a week if you’re aged 16.
