PHILADELPHIA - A Pennsylvania man has been arrested for running what authorities call a gun trafficking operation connected to several homicides and violent crimes. In a press conference held Wednesday, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele announced the arrest of 23-year-old Tamir Hartsock of Glenside, Pennsylvania. Hartsock faces numerous felony charges for straw purchasing and trafficking 15 firearms, of which four were recovered and connected to homicides and crimes in Philadelphia. Investigators say Hartsock purchased his first two guns on September 9, 2020, shortly after his 21st birthday.

SPANISH FORK, Utah (AP - A 2-year-old was shot in the head by a stray bullet while playing outside at day care in Utah, authorities said Tuesday.The Spanish Fork Police Department said day care workers brought a toddler to a nearby hospital on Monday after they noticed the child stumbling and bleeding from the face. Following scans, doctors found a small caliber bullet lodged in the toddler’s head and transported the child to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, 52 miles (84 kilometers) north of Spanish Fork.Authorities said the child was in stable condition."Detectives are continuing to investigate where the bullet may have been shot from and why.

WASHINGTON - Authorities have identified a man who was arrested and charged after he allegedly crashed a U-Haul truck into security barriers on the north side of Lafayette Square near the White House Monday.U.S. Park Police say Sai Varshith Kandula, 19, of Chesterfield, Missouri, was taken into custody at the scene. COLLINGWOOD, N.J. - A New Jersey high school opened a wellness center to help students navigate mental and emotional struggles felt by teens in their formative years. Backed by a federal grant, the wellness center at Collingswood High School is staffed by licensed counselors ready to assist "overwhelmed" and "stressed out" students. "Almost every student who walks in the space has been overwhelmed by something, stressed out by something," Wellness Center Director Kristin O'Lexy told FOX 29. The center is a cell phone-free space with welcoming pastel-colored walls and soft background music.

PHILADELPHIA - A triple shooting erupted overnight in Philadelphia's Olney section, and police say it all stemmed from a robbery that quickly turned violent.Three people were found struck by gunfire on the 400 block of Fisher Avenue just before midnight Saturday.One victim, a 39-year-old man was treated and released at the scene for a graze wound. A 49-year-old man was shot in the stomach and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.A 17-year-old, who police say is one of three suspects, was also found suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

PHILADELPHIA - A man has died after Philadelphia police say he was shot in the city’s Tioga neighborhood early Friday morning.Police responded to the 3700 block of Germantown Avenue around 2:30 a.m. for a call of a fight and a person with a gun. When officers arrived on the scene they found a man laying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a food delivery driver was gunned down while sitting inside his car after dropping off food to a property near Temple's North Philadelphia campus. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 1700 block of North Gratz Street for reports of multiple gunshot. Police found a 48-year-old man in the driver's seat of a white Honda suffering from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

PHILADELPHIA - A parking lot ATM outside a shopping center near one of Philadelphia's busiest roadways has become the site of a recent stretch of violent crimes that may have been carried out by the same group.The Bank of America ATM tucked in the corner of Roosevelt Plaza Shopping Center is where police say a 53-year-old man was shot twice Wednesday night while using the machine. Police found the victim - who has not been pubically identified - laying next to his car and rushed him to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. Investigators believe the man, who police say lives nearby the shopping center, was trying to use the ATM when someone shot him. PHILADELPHIA - Authorities have announced an arrest in an incident outside a Philadelphia speakeasy that left three people with serious injuries last year.Joel Martinez, 22, was arrested in connection with the incident that occurred back on June 12, 2022, near Rosehill and East Westmoreland streets.Martinez is accused of shooting a young woman and a teenage girl while also pistol-whipping a trans woman. Police say the victims were leaving the nightclub when they encountered another group of people, including Martinez. At that time, Martinez allegedly uttered a derogatory word at one of the victims and an argument ensued. During the argument, police say Martinez pulled out a handgun and fire at least six shots, striking two of the victims.

(Credit: Israel Antiquities Authority via Storyful)JERUSALEM - Archaeologists in Israel have discovered 1,800-year-old marble artifacts on the seabed near Netanya, just north of Tel Aviv. The artifacts were discovered aboard a ship that was wrecked in shallow waters of the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Beit Yanai, just north of Netanya, according to the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) which reported the findings on May 15. The vessel included "corinthian capitals decorated with vegetal motifs, partially carved capitals, and a huge marble architrave, measuring up to 6 meters long," the IAA said."It seems that these valuable architectural elements were destined for a magnificent public building—a temple or perhaps a theatre," said the IAA.The location of the artifacts was reported a few weeks earlier by an experienced sea swimmer, Gideon Harris, who reported seeing "ancient columns" on the seabed off Beit Yanai beach, according to the IAA.Koby Sharvit, the head of the IAA’s underwater archaeology unit, said they had "been aware of the existence of this shipwrecked cargo for a long time" but did not know its exact location."From the size of the architectural elements, we can calculate the dimensions of the ship; we are talking about a merchant ship that could bear a cargo of at least 200 tons," said Sharvit.
