It is reported that the murder is in connection to a kite dispute that dates back to 2017, however, these reports are yet to be verified by police.Police suspect the shooting may have been the result of a personal dispute.Further investigations are currently ongoing under the supervision of the SSP in charge of the Gampaha Districts. Unconfirmed reports said that the shooters were impersonating law enforcement personnel, and T-56 assault rifles were used for the murder.

In May, police say he returned to the home and peered into the window. McEaddy was arrested in August when police say he was caught peering into a home in Pitman Borough.
