Ten areas with rising Covid infection rates despite rest of England's cases falling

Ten areas of England are still seeing increasing coronavirus infection rates, despite cases nationwide beginning to finally trend downward.

Areas of the North and Midlands are steadfastly continuing to see week-on-week increases. That's despite daily case numbers around the UK now falling steadily, as scientists today said the 'R' transmission rate is slowing.

Parts of Derbyshire, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire have this week all been seeing increases in their infection rates. But their case numbers remain far lower than areas of London and Merseyside that still lead the highest infection rates in England.

Of the 315 local areas in England, 10 (3%) have seen a rise in case rates and 305 (97%) have seen a fall. Knowsley in Merseyside
