TRENTON - Despite an increase in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations in New Jersey over the last several weeks, Gov.
Phil Murphy believes the light at the end of the tunnel is getting larger. In an interview with Good Day Philadelphia, Murphy acknowledged the state current rate of transmission, which now sits above 1, and said he said his administration "expected" the uptick. "We're down, thank god from the horror we saw last spring and we're down meaningfully from where we were in January, but we're up from where we were a couple of weeks ago," Murphy said.
He attributed the rise in infections and hospitalizations to a number of things, including COVID-19 variants, population density, and the fluctuating spring weather.
