12 Jun 2020 The annual Trooping the Colour ceremony is, by name and by nature, a chance for The Queen to showcase some of her brightest outfits. As a military parade that marks Her Majesty's official birthday celebrations, the entire Royal family will always attend in their finery.
While the men - and Princess Anne - usually wear uniforms thanks to their military role in the ceremony, female royals are free to wear whatever occasionwear ensembles they like - usually topped with a fabulous hat of some sort.
Sadly, this year's Trooping the Colour has been drastically scaled back due to Covid-19, although a small parade will take place in The Queen's presence at Windsor Castle on Saturday.
