Diners and drinkers spilled out on to Square Street while adhering to the social distancing rules in place at the time. The clever idea helped several businesses thrive during a difficult period and its popularity led some to believe it would be a good idea to make it a permanent feature.

But there are two sides of Ramsbottom, and they can't agree, LancsLive reports. The Ramsbottom Town Plan was submitted last year and included a proposal to pedestrianise a section of Square Street.
