The Austin (TX) American Statesman (4/23, Chang, Subscription Publication) reports that 35 “government-funded homes for individuals with disabilities in Texas – including Austin Supported Living Center – have had a positive case of COVID-19, as residents and their caregivers are pleading with the state officials to provide more support.” Texas Health and Human Services officials “would not disclose the total number of individuals and staff members at these homes who have tested positive, citing privacy reasons.” Home to “179 individuals with disabilities, Austin Supported Living Center reported its first positive COVID-19 case on April 5, according to a letter sent to families of residents, and employees told the American-Statesman there.
