Government figures released last night include previously unreported numbers of pillar two tests for walk-through sites and home testing.

They show that there have been more than 300 extra confirmed cases in Salford since the pandemic began in March than were previously reported publicly by the government.

The earlier figures published each day on the government's Covid-19 dashboard for areas in England were previously only revealing figures for tests carried out in hospitals and NHS centres - known as ‘Pillar 1’ of the government’s testing strategy.

Last night, the dashboard was updated for the first time including mobile testing site and other figures, referred to as ‘Pillar 2’.
