Arsenal players missed three days of training after a positive Covid-19 test earlier this month. One player tested positive and two others were forced to miss sessions for several days after coming into close contact with their team-mate - despite none of them showing any symptoms. The Government protocols saw those involved begin to self-isolate, but further private samples came back as negative suggesting that the first test could have been a false positive.
The confusion would no doubt have had a negative impact on their daunting trip to Manchester, which ended in a comfortable 3-0 win for Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
