A thug who battered his stroke victim neighbour in a brutal street attack has avoided a prison sentence. Allan Whitelaw assaulted Alan Roy in Milton, Glasgow, as he made his way home from a trip to Lidl.
Alan was left with grotesque injuries after suffering three facial fractures and a broken back. He has suffered physically and emotionally as a result of the attack and still suffers from flashbacks. The road where the attack took place was covered in blood at the time of the crime and Alan had to be rushed to hospital for a CT scan to be carried out.
Former railway worker Alan, who was forced to retire from his job after his stroke, is now also too afraid to leave his home since the ordeal.Whitelaw, 53, was arrested and charged over the July 2022 incident, pleading guilty to a charge of assault to severe injury.
He could have been caged for up to five years for the attack. But he avoided jail when sentenced last month, being ordered to carry out unpaid work and abide by a home curfew and ban on contacting Alan as punishment.Alan, 53, raged: "I feel a bit let down after having a stroke and then quite a nasty beating.
