Tim Burgess' 'Listening Party' gains broad appeal during coronavirus lockdown

Tim Burgess of British band The Charlatans first 'played' an album online 10 years ago - it was the anniversary of the band's debut, 'Some Friendly' and he played it and tweeted about it at the same time, inviting fans to join in and take part in the experience.

He went on to do the same with other records and, when the restrictions put in place by Covid-19 kicked in, decided to broaden his Twitter feed out to include other bands and artists.

The response has been extraordinary. Using the hashtag #timstwitterlisteningparty fans and musicians have been talking about their favourite albums, sharing memories and, as an added bonus, getting an hour away from the reality of life with Covid-19.
