A TV news anchor has made an embarrassing mix-up live on air, and had to make a hasty apology. Veteran presenter Bill Ritter was giving an update on a 26-year-old patient who had touched people with his battle against covid-19, and announced that he had sadly died.
As he then went to a pre-recorded section on ABC News in the US, it became clear that 26-year-old Jack Allard was very much alive and well.
The video showed the young man, who had been in a medically-induced coma, walking out of hospital five weeks after his treatment began.
Going back to Mr Ritter in the studio, he said: "I feel horrible. Jack is very much alive." "Jack we love you." He went on to add: "Again: Jack is alive and back home.
