UEFA issue statement denying Champions League final cut-off date

UEFA have denied reports claiming this year’s Champions League final will be cancelled if the competition cannot be completed by 3 August.

The European football season has come to a standstill amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has affected over a million people across the world.

It is unclear when the 2019/20 campaign will resume, with Premier League chiefs recently suspending all English top-flight matches for the foreseeable future.

The Champions League final was originally due to take place on 30 May at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul, but the showpiece has since been postponed.
