The coronavirus is more likely to claim young people's lives if they have no underlying health conditions, according to shock stats released today.
Men are also said to be dying of Covid-19 at double the rate of women. The figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) cover registered deaths in the month of March where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate.
The analysis found the person who died had at least one pre-existing condition in 91% of cases, but younger people were much more likely to have had no pre-existing conditions when they died.
They also suggest the that older people, men and those with underlying conditions are significantly more likely to die due to Covid-19.
