Premier League bosses will meet tomorrow to discuss putting a June 30 deadline on completing the current season. All top level football has been suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus crisis.
But League chief executive Richard Masters is keen to get the campaign finished to avoid a potential legal battle with numerous broadcasters and sponsors.
The EFL has also written to clubs suggesting the possibility of resuming the season on June 6 if possible, but this would depend on Government approval.
Finishing the campaign would also help top flight clubs in their ongoing contract situations with players. Numerous stars' present deals expire on 30 June and FIFA are aware of the problem and are looking at alternatives, like rolling
