UK coronavirus death toll rises by 126 in past 24 hours

The death toll now stands at 44,517 - up from 44,236 the previous day.Today's figures are down on last Wednesday's daily deaths increase which was 176 and that of June 24 which saw a rise of 154.A further 630 people have tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 286,979 from 286,349 at the same point yesterday.The number of cases is also down compared to last Wednesday's 829.More than 11 million tests have now been carried out in the UK, including 240,340 yesterday.A further 42 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in hospitals to 28,969,.
