The UK's official coronavirus death toll has risen to 46,574 after eight more patients died in all settings. The tragic figure was released by the government this afternoon.
It is the joint-lowest figure for a Sunday, after eight fatalities were also confirmed last week. More than 1,000 new positive cases of Covid-19 were also confirmed in the past 24 hours.
Figures show 1,062 more positive tests, taking the total number of infections in the UK to 310,825. Yesterday, 758 new cases were confirmed.
There have now been 18,249,668 tests carried out in the UK since the pandemic began. Earlier, another ten Covid-19 deaths were reported in UK hospitals in the past 24 hours.
