Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Sunday that the stricter lockdown restrictions may be implemented as the country reported 54,990 new cases of the coronavirus.

The UK also saw 454 new deaths within 28 days of positive Covid-19 test.Coronavirus cases in Britain are at record levels and the increase in numbers is fuelled by a new and more transmissible variant of the virus.
