A further 104 coronavirus deaths have been recorded in the UK - the lowest increase in five months. It is the smallest rise in daily fatalities since October 26, when 102 deaths were announced.
The latest figure is also way down on the 178 Covid fatalities declared last Monday. The number of new coronavirus cases has halved in a week, with the 5,455 announced today down from 10,641 last Monday.
It comes after hospital deaths in the country increased by 132 in the latest 24 hour period. This figure is calculated differently from the number of Covid deaths in all settings, which is why it can sometimes be higher.
