UK weather: Brits set to bask in hottest week of 2020 as the mercury hits 34C

Met Office. After a mild start on Monday, Britain is set to bask in Mediterranean temperatures, with the capital reaching around 30C (86F), which is two degrees hotter than the forecast for Ibiza.

This would also set a new record for the year. May 20 was the hottest day of 2020 so far, when the mercury reached 28.2C (82.8F) at Santon Downham in Suffolk.This beat the previous record set just the day before when St James's Park in London recorded a high of 26.2C (79.2F).The Met Office has forecast a north-south split from Monday, with temperatures reaching the mid-20s in the South of England and mid-teens in Scotland.Daytime showers are also forecast for northern Scotland and Ireland, but these should die out by Monday evening.Met Office.
