People are proud of our NHS and proud of those that work for it. The ultimate expression of public thanks were evident during the pandemic, the outpouring of love and support was warmly received by all staff. When we need it – when our loved ones are sick or when our society is under threat from a deadly virus – our NHS is there for us.The success of our NHS is built on teamwork.

Whether you work in inpatients or outpatients, the local GP surgery or the operating theatre, the kitchen or laundry, a community health setting, hospital ward or a maternity unit, in ambulances or admin, the list is endless.

You know who you are, and you are crucial to the success of our NHS.Our NHS is a massive undertaking and commitment to the people of Scotland and the UK.

It is by its very nature complex and challenging, particularly at a time when funding is squeezed; staffing levels are at an all time low and the health needs of our citizens become more complex as people live longer with increasing levels of illness and frailty. As the demands on our NHS continually increase, our staff and UNISON members continue to lead the drive to innovate, modernise, and become more efficient.
