Abdie Kazemipur, a University of Calgary sociologist and the chair in ethnic studies, said in an interview with Global News that there is “discomfort” around certain religions in Canada.
He also said the discomfort can “kind of fade away” through interacting with people who observe different religions, but if that interaction doesn’t happen and society “remains segregated,” the worries and concern can in turn create more “intolerant attitudes and feelings.”.
