A Second World War hero is turning 100 this week - but he will be celebrating the milestone in isolation at his care home because of coronavirus.
Harry Melling, from Wigan, is celebrating his centenary on Saturday and, with the help of his care home, had planned a special birthday party with all of his family for the occasion.
But the party had to be cancelled in the wake of COVID-19. A 'disappointed' Harry now faces spending his birthday alone in his room, as care home residents have had to isolate in a bid to keep safe from the virus.
To help give Harry the birthday he deserves, an appeal has been launched, asking people across the country to send cards to the war veteran to make him feel special on his big day.
