People in the UK have been clinging to a series of eyebrow-raising myths about coronavirus, research has revealed. Vodka, garlic and even holding your breath are just some of the rumours that have circulated about the global pandemic.
The most widely believed false claim is that vodka can be used as hand sanitiser, according to YouGov who questioned 2,099 adults.
Some 32% of Brits thought the spirit could tackle the virus - when in fact there is not enough alcohol to kill microbes, Birmingham Live reports.
Brits also believe that wearing a face mask protects you against Covid-19, with 6% agreeing it definitely stops from getting the virus, while 22% feel it is probably true, researchers found.
