PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Caught on camera, police in Morris County, New Jersey pulled two people from a submerged vehicle in Pequannock Township April 2.

The vehicle was submerged in a retention pond and dramatic police body cam footage showed the rescue efforts unfold.Officials with the Pequannock Township Police said the driver of the vehicle went into the pond at Cedar Crest Senior Living Community.

Police, medics, the Pequannock Fire Department and Cedar Crest Security pulled the driver and a passenger to safety as the car was filling with water.Police body cam footage showed the moments leading to the police officer jumping and grabbing one of the two occupants from the vehicle.

Body burned beyond recognition found in backseat of vehicle after car fire in Oxford Circle, authorities say

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating after a body was found in the back seat of a burning car early Tuesday morning. According to officials, police responded to a car fire in the area of Sylvester and Howell Streets in the Oxford Circle section of the city just before 1 a.m. Police say officers and medics arrived on scene to find a Honda CRV fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire department put out the flames, authorities say they realized there was a body in the back seat. The individual in the back seat was pronounced dead shortly after, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small, who says the body was burned beyond recognition. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAuthorities say the inside of the vehicle was also completely burned and there is damage to the vehicle's exterior. According to police, the car was parked there just before 1 a.m. and two people got out before the vehicle went up in flames. The person's cause of death remains under investigation, Small says. Residents of South Jersey town gather to oppose warehouse development project

OLDMANS TWP., N.J. - Residents in a South Jersey town packed a meeting Monday night to try and put a stop to a plan that would build more warehouses in Salem County.A company called Knightowl Holdings is trying to build nine new warehouses and two trailer lots that would cover over 500 acres of land along 295 in Oldmans Township.Signs across the area showcase how strongly residents oppose the warehouse development. Community members say they are concerned about two things: the amount of traffic these warehouses would bring and the environmental impact. "My family bought the property to raise our family in a quiet area, a safe area. Having to drive my kid to daycare or school or whatever and having to share the road with these massive tracker trailers isn’t really safe for anyone," said community member, Genevieve Sarlo. Mother furious after 6-year-old son left alone on bus at Philadelphia daycare

PHILADELPHIA - A local mother is speaking out against a Philadelphia daycare after she says her 6-year-old son was left alone on a school bus and had to find his way back into the building. Terralyn Jackson told FOX 29 that her son, Zaadyn, was picked up from school on Friday for an after school program at the Rock Foundation Early Learning Academy in West Oak Lane. Zaadyn ended up falling asleep on the bus during transit and when the bus arrived at the daycare, he was left behind for approximately 15-17 minutes, Jackson said. Zaadyn said he was awoken by the unseasonably warm temperatures that climbed into the mid-80s on Friday, and he found his way off the bus and through the daycare's front gate. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"If he did not know how to get through the gate, which the lock is very high, he would’ve been on Ogontz Avenue just randomly there," Jackson said.Jackson said a parent let Zaadyn in through the main entrance of the daycare. A staff member then drove Zaadyn in the person vehicle to get water ice, which the school claims was a soothing mechanism. "I’m a single parent trying to do what’s right and best for my child and I trusted someone to take care of my child while I’m at work doing the right thing,"Rock Foundation Early Learning Academy Director Carine Dorlus told FOX 29 that the whole incident was an accident and a mistake.

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - Residents in Burlington County are calling on police to enforce stricter distracted driving laws after they say drivers regularly speed through a heavily-trafficked intersection in their town, putting pedestrians' safety at risk. Concerned residents in the Larchmount section of Mount Laurel say drivers need to slow down and stop for pedestrians in the crosswalks. The high demand for police to get involved came after several residents complained that they were almost struck at the same crosswalk."If they don't stop, they could kill someone," said Wendy Walters, a resident in Mount Laurel.
