Rooney, who joined Derby from DC United in January, has enjoyed a reasonable start at Pride Park. But the England legend has had to settle for seventh in the vote, after being beaten by some of the Championships brightest talents.
Aleksandar Mitrovic of Fulham tops the list, while Kalvin Phillips is second after his impressive season with league leaders Leeds.
