Wayne Rooney claimed footballers have been made “easy targets’ by Health Secretary Matt Hancock during the coronavirus battle.
The Derby forward is in COVID-19 lockdown as football is England is suspended for the foreseeable future. It has already seen clubs such as Liverpool and Tottenham put non-playing staff on furlough.
This came after Hancock urged Premier League stars to “take a pay cut and play their part”, responding with a 30 per cent reduction.
But Rooney has slammed the Health Secretary for putting pressure on footballers. Writing in his Sunday Times column, Rooney said: "I'm in a position where I could give something up.
