Concerned residents are calling for answers over the future of their town hall. The historic Westhoughton Town Hall usually houses public services but is undergoing vital refurbishments and has been empty since before the coronavirus lockdown began.Liberal Democrat councillor Bernadette Eckersley-Fallon says she is now regularly asked whether the building could be sold off, amid rumours that Bolton Council may choose to cash in on it.However, the local authority says no decision on the hall's future will be made until plans for the regeneration of Westhoughton town centre are decided. The area is among four townships in the borough of Bolton set to receive a share of £16m for major refurbishment works and, while a "masterplan" for this.
