WhatsApp scam trying to steal money targets Tesco and Morrisons customers

Unscrupulous crooks have been sending genuine-looking messages via WhatsApp pretending to be from Tesco and Morrisons. But these messages are in fact dangerous fakes that could empty an unwary shopper’s bank account in seconds.

One of the scam messages reads: "Morrisons is giving away free groceries worth £250 to support the nation during Corona pandemic.

Hurry up! Collect your FREE voucher." A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said: "It’s said to appear genuine and the link to the website provided was: http://morrisons.uk-groceries.store/#" The fraudulent link has now been closed down.
