Work progresses on new intensive care unit for mental health patients in Tameside

The £4.8m specialist unit, due to open in April 2022, will have 12 en-suite rooms to give short-term inpatient care for men going through serious mental health distress.

Alongside the rooms, Tameside Hospital's new psychiatric intensive care unit will also have an activity room, a therapy room, and a garden.

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust shared a video of the progress on the unit today, after Robert Largan, the elected official for High Peak, visited the site.
