The 10 areas with biggest week-on-week rise in Covid-19 case rates have been revealed in today's daily figures. In Monday's update of the latest Covid-19 case rates for every local authority area in England, there is good news for many places as 91% of the 315 local areas in England (287) have seen case rates fall.
However, 27 (9%) have seen a rise and one is unchanged. See the list of 10 areas with the biggest week-on-week rise in rates, below. Knowsley in Merseyside continues to have the highest rate in England, with 1,358 new cases recorded in the seven days to January 21, the equivalent of 900.2 cases per 100,000 people.
This is down from 1,178.6 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to January 14. Sandwell in the West Midlands
