Officers went inside to investigate and as soon as they entered the basement, they say they found an unresponsive man bleeding from the head. Medics were called to the scene and pronounced the man dead once they arrived. MORE HEADLINES Authorities say they found one spent shell casings just a few feet away from the victim's body, but they were not able to locate a weapon. At this point in the investigation, authorities say they do not know of a motive, nor do they have a description of the shooter.

PHILADELPHIA - The Pennsylvania State Police provided updated totals on recent road-rage related shootings, and they're asking for the public's help in investigating and preventing interstate shootings. In the last three years, authorities say there has been an increase in the number of road rage-related shootings on the interstates surrounding Philadelphia. In 2020, Pennsylvania State Police say they investigated only four interstate shootings, but in 2022, that number spiked to 20. Officials say this year is on pace to match or surpass last year's totals with troopers reporting that they've already responded to ten interstate shootings. There have been a total of 40 reported road rage-related shootings since 2020 and of those 40, eight victims were struck by gunfire, according to State Police.

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - A 29-year-old woman accused of using false documents to enroll as a New Jersey high school student and attend some classes over a four-day period will be allowed to enter a pretrial intervention program, a state judge ruled Monday.The woman had pleaded not guilty in March to a charge of providing a false government document. Her lawyer has said she did so because she was lonely and longed to return to her days with friends in school but now realizes she made a mistake.

WASHINGTON - Two staff members were assaulted with a baseball bat at the office of Virginia Congressman Gerry Connolly Monday afternoon. Connolly said in a statement that an individual with a baseball bat entered his office and asked for him, before attacking two members of his staff. Police were on the scene Monday afternoon at the congressman's district office at 10680 Main Street in Fairfax, VA, investigating the incident. The two victims are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. The suspect has been identified as Xuan-Kha Tran Pham, 49, of Fairfax.

SAN FRANCISCO - The security guard who shot and killed alleged shoplifter Banko Brown outside a Walgreens in San Francisco will not be prosecuted, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins told KTVU in a one-on-one interview on Monday. "We do not believe there is sufficient evidence to overcome what we would expect his defense of self-defense to be," Jenkins said. "[Anthony] has specifically articulated to the police, more than once, the facts surrounding the incident and explained that he believed he was in imminent danger, and at this time we don’t believe there is anything to overcome those statements." Michael Earl-Wayne Anthony, 33, was working as a security guard for the Walgreens at 4th and Market Streets in San Francisco, when he shot and killed Brown, 24, on April 27 during an altercation in which Brown was allegedly shoplifting. In a surveillance video obtained by KTVU, Anthony can be seen trying to stop Brown as he tries to leave Walgreens with a bag of items. The video shows Anthony trying to stop Brown from exiting the store with a blue bag filled with items, and Brown pushing Anthony's shoulder first. Anthony then shoves back, the video shows, and the two began to physically struggle. The pair began to wrestle and Anthony brings Brown to the ground and applies what looks like a choke hold while on Brown's back, the video shows.

TRENTON - Firefighters in New Jersey's capital worked to extinguish a five-alarm inferno that torched an abandoned school Monday afternoon. Crews from the Trenton Fire Department were called to the intersection of Southard Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 2:30 p.m. A tweet from Trenton Publics Schools said the fire engulfed the old Junior No.

FARMINGTON, N.M. - At least three people were dead and multiple others wounded Monday after a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico, police said, and schools citywide were put on lockdown."There are multiple civilian victims," Farmington police reported via Facebook, adding that one suspect "was confronted and killed on scene."Two officers were shot including a member of the city police and one with the New Mexico State Police, the message said. LOS ANGELES COUNTY, Calif. - A family is grieving the death of a beloved mother and grandmother after the 76-year-old was hit by a school bus and died in La Puente.The California Highway Patrol, which investigates crashes involving school buses, said the incident happened on Monday, May 8 at around 2:20 p.m. on Hacienda Boulevard and Fairgrove Avenue. Blanca Arcelia Guerrero, the mom of 6, was crossing the intersection when she was struck by a Hacienda La Puente Unified school bus. The Medical Examiner's office ruled Guerrero's cause of death as blunt force trauma.

Two people in Israel were killed by rocket fire.The tenuous cease-fire appeared to take effect just after 10 p.m., with a last-minute burst of rocket fire and Israeli airstrikes stretching several minutes past the deadline announced by Egypt.
