With COVID-19 cases surging in Toronto, organizers of the 2021 Juno Awards have postponed their virtual awards celebration. The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences has moved the country's national music awards to Sunday, June 6, from an initial date of May 16.
The delay is "out of an abundance of caution in response to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic," organizers said in a statement, while offering no additional comment to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Weeknd leads the field for 2021 Juno nominations with six nods, followed by five nomination each for Justin Bieber, Jessie Reyez and JP Saxe.
